Hi All!
Just a quick update about a story I'm so so excited about. It's about meth...a drug that is a huugge problem for the state of Missouri, and the city of Washington (yay for my hometown) is leading the state--and possibly the country--in finding a way to solve it. I don't much time to explain, so I want to post a video that does a better job. I created it for the, 'Win a Trip' contest, sponsored by New York Times columnist Nick Kristof. If I'm the lucky winner, I'll get to spend a few weeks reporting with Kristof in Africa this spring... Cross your fingers for me! Anyway, in my video application I tell him about the meth story and introduce Amy, the brave women we met early this week. She and her daughter, RaeAnn (soo so cute) are a wonderful story of success in the battle against addiction to one of the most powerful drugs on the planet. I hope the final product of our news package will inspire some of the same feelings of respect and admiration that we felt for Amy. Enjoy! Link to the video update. Thanks so much to Amy for sharing her story with us. We had a great time talking with you and your daughter...and Lily the dog! Good luck with Girl Scout cookies! Thanks for reading, Emily
